Every fourth of July, Americans commemorate our independence. Freedom is one of those concepts that is difficult to define, but its absence is obvious. Anyone can be a follower – in fact, it's difficult to find people who aren't looking for followers. One must only exist to be dependent, but these steps are required to become self-sufficient.
1. Pretend It Until You Make It
It is not necessary to be successful in order to act like it. People will generally accept you as who you say you are if you are confident and friendly (provided, of course, you can back it up when necessary). In fact, I'm writing this from Denver, CO, where I'm covering the Cannabis Cup as a journalist. I didn't have a press pass when I arrived, but I now have one because I pretended to belong. I now do.

2. Make a Plan
If you're independent without a plan, you're not independent – you're just unaware of how dependent you are. This drives your friends and family insane, so stop doing it. Make a plan for yourself, and make it a good one. Following or obstructing others is avoided by sticking to your own plan.
3. Establish Habits
Now that you've made plans, turn them into habits by making a conscious effort to stick to them. Every time you stick to your plan, you get one step closer to making it a habit. Habits are much easier to follow because they are ingrained in your DNA. You become unconsciously drawn to these actions to the point where stopping them requires effort. This is when you know you've arrived.
4. Make Choices
It is critical to exercise your freedom as you become more at ease with your independence. It is only by exercising your liberties that they grow stronger. Making a decision is the simplest way to exercise your freedoms. You create your path, your way, by deciding. Begin by deciding what you want and learning how to get it.
5. Recognize Your Role
Remember that you are never alone. You are always surrounded by other people, and it is critical to be compassionate to those around you. Just because you are self-sufficient does not automatically make you a CEO, nor will you be treated as such. Instead of wishing for a new hand, figure out where you really fit in and play your cards to the best of your ability.
6. Take Risks
Taking risks is the only way to survive on your own. Even if you have the best plans in the world, someone will always be ready, willing, and able to derail them. You'd be naive to believe you're the sole exception, so be willing to take chances. If these risks pay off, you'll be a success, and if they don't, you'll have a great story to tell.
7. Think for Yourself
If everyone agrees with you, you're not disrupting enough to be considered independent. This is not to say you should be an obnoxious jerk, but you should shake things up. Anyone can be agreeable to a point, but if you always agree with people, you're just following them. Think for yourself and occasionally play devil's advocate to keep everyone on their toes.
In the name of liberty, our forefathers fought and died. In July 1776, they drafted our Declaration of Independence to provide guidelines for preserving each of our individual independence. It is critical for each of us to become self-sufficient in order to honor their sacrifices. Begin right away… because I said so…

Feminism Debunked: Has feminism had some benefits? Absolutely. Has feminism had some negative outcomes? Absolutely. "If you are born with testicles, you are destined for greatness." - Virgin Billionaire. We all want equal rights, but it seems like some are using the term feminism as an excuse to be treated better than men and bash men. The truth is, we all deserve to be treated equally and with respect and feminism and MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way) both have a different approach to this. Read more.

Strong Finishes: A strong finish is just as important as a strong start. More importantly, it is just as important as the content that is in the middle. The strong finish is just as important as the introduction because without a strong finish, it is impossible to have a strong article. How does one write a strong finish? With action verbs, of course! There are many examples of action verbs, but here are a few of them: "attack", "battle", "conquer", "destroy". One of the biggest keys to a strong finish is to make sure you are always continuing to write about your subject and always remind the reader of your subject. While your subject may go through many different changes, make sure to keep reminding the reader of what your subject is and how it will be affected by the action verbs. Read more.
