Our minds are filled with an endless stream of what-if questions, and sometimes staying stuck in indecision seems safer than making any decision at all. You will never be completely certain

When we make a major decision that will have a significant impact on our future, we want to be absolutely certain that our choice is the “right one.” We bite our nails and analyze the situation forward, backward, and upside down, hoping for a clear picture. The truth is that selecting the best option does not necessitate complete certainty. In fact, nothing in life is ever certain, because every decision carries the risk and reward of both risk and reward. Decision-making is less about absolute certainty and more about selecting the best option as it presents itself.

You Can Always Make Changes

Reminding yourself that you can always make changes and adjustments is a great way to break through indecision. You are not bound by any decision made yesterday, last week, or last month. As you learn and grow, you have the right to change your mind or make new decisions. The most common error is to make no decision at all. When you remain undecided, you are essentially allowing others or circumstances to make the decision for you. Even if you make a bad decision, you can always learn from it. Allowing others to choose for you, on the other hand, prevents you from learning important lessons that will help you make better decisions in the future.

Make a list of the advantages and disadvantages

Few things can assist you in making a difficult decision better than a list of pros and cons. While a list of positives and negatives for each outcome may appear simple, you will be surprised at how much clearer your options become when you write them down. We all have difficulty sorting information in our heads. For example, have you ever made something out to be a huge deal in your head, only to realize it was really no big deal at all when you told someone else? The same thing occurs in decision-making. When we keep all the what-ifs and possibilities in our heads, we become stressed. Writing them down helps to make our options more concrete and understandable. Then you can easily see which option has more positives or more negatives.

Allow Plenty of Time

We frequently rush to make important decisions when we could have taken our time. We dislike the stress of sorting through our options and weighing the pros and cons, so we try to make a decision as quickly as possible and hope that everything works out. Although making a quick decision may provide some relief, giving yourself time to process will ultimately bring you more peace. You don't even have to spend the entire time consciously considering your options. Simply “sleep on it” for a few days, allowing your unconscious or intuitive mind to take the lead. You might be surprised by the insights that come to you when you least expect them.

The most important thing to remember when making decisions is that you do not have to be perfect. Also, keep in mind that no one else makes perfect decisions! Consider the decision-making process to be an opportunity to learn more about yourself and the world around you. When your goal is to learn and do your best, you release yourself from the pressure to be perfect. Without all of that pressure, you might find yourself feeling more excited than stressed when the next big decision comes your way!
