Guarded Heart (The Ultimate Guide + Image Quotes)

A guarded heart is one that has been through a series of traumatic experiences, leaving a person unable to easily open up to new friends and loved ones. However, this does not rule out the possibility. Those of us with guarded hearts are frequently incredibly caring individuals who have been hurt in the past and, as a result, will do their best to keep their shields up around the majority of people. If you find yourself dating someone who has a guarded heart, keep the following in mind:

1. We value our alone time

People with guarded ears believe in themselves more than anyone else on the planet. As a result, we enjoy being alone far more than others. Meeting new people is exhausting because we must maintain our guard at all times until we are certain we can trust someone. Understand that if you're dating someone with a guarded heart, they'd rather spend a quiet night on the couch with you than go out with a group of friends.

2. We take our time

We don't jump into relationships head first because it's extremely difficult for us to trust anyone. In fact, we are frequently terrified when we find ourselves liking someone enough to pursue a relationship with them. Unfortunately, having been hurt in the past has made us distrustful of ourselves, and we will always second-guess ourselves when we begin to feel attracted to someone. However, if you don't mind entering into a relationship with us, it will demonstrate your ability to adapt to our needs.

3. We are still prone to falling

We may take it slowly, but that doesn't mean we don't fall easily. It's what got us into this mess in the first place. Those of us with guarded hearts have most likely been hurt by falling in love too quickly in the past. Despite having learned from our mistakes, it is in our nature to fall for anyone who treats us well from the start. Of course, this creates conflicting feelings about whether we can trust the person we're currently interested in.

4. We have a trust problem

It should be obvious by now that people with guarded hearts find it difficult to trust others. It can be difficult not to take this personally if you're dating someone who has a guarded heart. However, if you consistently demonstrate to your mate that you can be trusted and that your intentions are genuine, they will gradually but steadily open their hearts to you.

5. We pay more attention to what others are saying than we do to what we are saying

We are afraid to air our grievances to just anyone if we have a guarded heart. But we do pay attention to what those close to us say. We listen intently to what you're saying because we've learned it's difficult to trust others, and we're sometimes looking for reasons to keep our guard up. If you notice us being quiet on a date, it's because we want to get to know you before we open up about ourselves.

6. We can be a little mysterious at times

Along with being quiet, we may be hesitant to text or call you after a date, giving the impression of being distant. This does not imply that we are uninterested in you. In fact, it could be the inverse. As I previously stated, we are hesitant to let others in, especially if we see ourselves falling for them easily. We understand that being mysteriously distant sends mixed signals, but we have to look out for ourselves before we pay attention to social dating conventions.

7. We both love and despise showing affection

We often move too quickly when we want to take it slow, just as we fall easily but do not want to. This could have been part of our problem in the past: we fell in love too quickly, moved too quickly emotionally and physically, and ended up heartbroken when the relationship ended abruptly. If you take it slow with us, we'll shower you with love and affection when we're ready.

8. We genuinely care about the people we let into our lives

If we've let you into our lives, you can be certain that we genuinely care about you. This should be a fantastic compliment to those who strive to be as honest and trustworthy as possible. When we let you in, you'll notice that the relationship becomes much smoother and that we become much more open with our feelings. When this occurs, be prepared for a long-term relationship filled with love and trust.
