Investigate further; is there a convention, a class, or a workshop you could attend to put this talent to use? How can you connect with others who share your interests? All of these paths lead to connections and potential networking opportunities, so go ahead and be your talented self.

9. Keep in mind what you've been thanked for

People who thank us for something have been helped in some way. Take note of what you are frequently thanked for. Are you an attentive listener? What makes a good teacher? What makes a good motivator? Even if they appear insignificant, all of these things are talents.

Remember that your abilities should not only benefit others, but you as well. If you're constantly giving of yourself, use your skill as a caregiver to take care of yourself. Recognize that by giving to yourself, you are increasing your ability to give to others.

10. Be open to new experiences

Understand that as we get older, our tastes change and our strengths grow. Don't become complacent by telling yourself the same story over and over again. If you tell yourself, “I'm not athletic because I didn't play sports in high school,” you're not giving your current self the opportunity to discover new talents.

Being open to change entails letting go of preconceived notions and truly absorbing your surroundings. This kind of openness will lead you to discover new talents and will help you prepare to face any challenge life may throw at you.
