Is There More to Life (The Ultimate Guide + Image Quotes)

I decided to leave the title of this article blank because I want you to fill in the blanks with whatever words you think best fit. Because we are all unique individuals from various walks of life and stages of life, that sentence will have a different meaning for each of us.

Why are you working in your current job if you are a busy working professional?

Is it because you're passionate about it and it gives you a lot of satisfaction? Or is it because you studied it in college and recently landed a job that required those skills? Perhaps it's because of the money you're making or know you can make in the future?

What if you're getting ready to retire? You have another 2 to 3 years before you reach your'retirement deadline.' Have you accomplished everything you set out to do in the last 30-40 years? Do you have any unfulfilled goals or dreams? Are you satisfied with the outcome of your life to date, with all of the decisions and/or risks you've taken?

I'm sure many of us began working after college in the hopes of earning a good living–to be financially secure and able to afford the opportunity to experience and do things we enjoy. We begin by establishing a career and, over time, check off items on our bucket or ambition list. Looking back over the last few years, how much of your time have you spent doing things you enjoy and love–things that give you a great sense of fulfillment and meaning?

Are you a slave to the economy, a slave to your job, or a slave to your children? Or have you found a happy medium between work and play?

1. When is it ever enough?

Unfortunately, many of us work to live.

Realists would argue that if you truly want to work to live, you must have the financial means to do so. There will be no talk if there is no money. That is how the world works nowadays. So, if you don't earn or make enough money, it's difficult to truly enjoy life; it's difficult to be happy without money.

As a result, in our quest to provide just that, many of us end up spending our entire lives pursuing wealth, a life of status, and material desires. Is it, however, ever enough? Is it possible to have too much money? And at what cost?

If you're unsure about the cost you've been incurring, take our free Life Assessment to find out. After completing the assessment, you will receive a report detailing your life's analysis and an understanding of how you have been balancing your life thus far. Many wealthy entrepreneurs, millionaires, and even billionaires have come to agree that money does not buy happiness. It's useful, but it doesn't truly satisfy all desires. There comes a point when you have “had it all” and still feel an emptiness: an empty void that must be filled with something other than money or material possessions.

So, what else is there to life if not financial stability, social status, or material possessions?

How can we make work a part of our lives rather than consuming them entirely? Perhaps we should reconsider the meaning of the word “life.”

2. What is Your Life's Purpose?

What is the essence of life? What does life entail for you? Is there a reason for this?

(((Instant Book Preview of Is There More to Life Than What We Know?)))

If we look for work, we will only find work. But if we have a sense of purpose in our work; if we seek a calling, we will find more than just a job. We will discover our contribution to humanity and discover more to life. Do you agree?

According to research, having a sense of purpose and meaning in life improves overall well-being and life satisfaction, improves mental and physical health, boosts resiliency, boosts self-esteem, and lowers the risk of depression. So it should be noted that being happy in life isn't always enough, because happiness is a fleeting wave of emotions. Instead, it is more important to find and maintain meaning in one's life.

Meaning is about more than just transcending oneself; it is also about transcending the present moment. While happiness is an emotion that is felt in the present moment, it eventually fades away, as do all emotions; positive affect and feelings of pleasure are fleeting. The amount of time people report feeling good or bad correlates with happiness but not with meaning at all.

3. Have You Been on a Wild Goose Hunt?

Ironically, people are less happy as a result of their single-minded pursuit of happiness. According to Viktor Frankl, a famous Austrian Neurologist and Holocaust survivor, “it is the pursuit of happiness that thwarts happiness.” Returning to the common example of pursuing riches in order to be happy, this is precisely what makes many people unhappy.

So, once again, consider the statement, “There is more to life than .”

Have you responded meaningfully? If you've made it this far and are wondering how to take the first step toward discovering your true purpose in life, don't worry; I'm here to help you reframe your thoughts and actions so that you can embark on a journey of discovering true meaning in your life.
