I know that sometimes anger exacerbates the situation because there are so many consequences…
Anger is linked to type 2 diabetes
Anger, according to a 2010 article published in the Journal of Medicine and Life, can have a direct impact on cardiovascular diseases. Not only that, but scientists have linked it to type 2 diabetes and a variety of other diseases that many of us are unaware of.

One thing to keep in mind is that unhealthy habits such as smoking, using drugs, or simply eating too much, which can lead to obesity, can occur when a person is so angry that they want to take a little ‘escape' for comfort by doing those unhealthy habits or eating.
Anger causes you to interact with others less
The negative effects of anger on our mental health are the reason why it could lead to obesity. Many scientists have found a link between anger and depression in their research. When we are angry, we often want to isolate ourselves from people with whom we will have little interaction, which can lead to depression in the long run.
Should I just let everything hang out?
If anger is bad for our health, why do people say it's good to “Let it All Hang Out?” Is this true?
The answer from psychologists is emphatically NO. This is a dangerous myth that some of us use to justify harming one another. Research backs up those psychologists, demonstrating that venting our rage actually escalates our rage and aggression.
Instead of being angry at the other person, you should learn how to let go of your anger and maintain your calm and peace.
How to Deal with Anger
Write down your experience on a paper
According to research, writing down our feelings makes us feel better.
Aside from feelings, it is important to document every detail. Why? It's exhausting. When you put in so much effort to narrate the story and record all the details, you may be very enthusiastic at first, but you will want to finish it as soon as possible. This is a very effective method for causing yourself to move on naturally.
The following items should be included:
- What transpired? When? What? Why? Who? Where?
- What enraged you the most?
- What are your respective reactions?
When you're finished, take one last look at it before tearing the paper into pieces. It'll be like trashing your rage!
When I was angry with my mother, I wrote three pages. When I was finally finished, the moment I tore the paper, I burst out laughing (it felt so good!). And my mother looked at me, perplexed.
Allow yourself 24 hours before reacting
It's difficult not to react immediately when you're angry.
I understand how you feel…
You just want to make a counter-argument and regain control…
But if the person doesn't care, it's pointless to explain. If the person cares for you as if they are your loved ones, you will almost certainly say something inappropriate if you react quickly. The situation would deteriorate even further.
A great tip shared by a Quora user is to give yourself 24 hours before reacting.
“Remember to give yourself 24 hours before reacting,” she advised. If something bothers, angers, hurts, or disturbs you, remember that you are not in a normal state of mind because you are in an extreme situation. Stay calm, silent, and aloof for 24 hours before expressing your opinion, acting, or reacting. If it continues to bother you after 24 hours, talk about it maturely.
You'd be surprised how many relationships you'll save if you don't act rashly in the heat of the moment. You are wise enough if you can do this.”
Are you really upset right now? Set a timer for yourself and deal with it in 24 hours. Meanwhile, keep yourself busy with things you've been meaning to do for a long time but haven't gotten around to doing.
