Promise Oneself (The Ultimate Guide + Image Quotes)

Which of your promises to yourself are worthwhile?

The phrase “live your life to the fullest” is frequently repeated. This can be found in books, movies, songs, poems, and even speeches. You are frequently instructed to live wisely, freely, and happily throughout your life. This mantra, however, is sometimes considered a cliche. People take its meaning for granted because it feels hollow—sure, you want to live life to the fullest; you want to go out there and make the most of your life; and you want to help others do the same.

You want to do all of these things, but the question is how.

You can accomplish this by making – and keeping – the following promises to yourself:

1. I promise myself that I will accept both my strengths and my flaws

Remember that you are here to serve a purpose in this world. You are worthy of being, believing, and living. To truly feel worthy, however, you must overcome your low self-esteem and adopt a self-loving and self-approving attitude. This is only possible if you accept yourself unconditionally.

2. I will speak to myself lovingly

There are many people in this world who take pleasure in bringing you down and destroying your sense of self-worth: don't be one of them. Be your biggest fan, not your harshest critic. Speak positively to yourself. Help yourself get up every time you're knocked down; when the worst happens, you'll be your own life coach.

3. I will always remember that I do not have complete control over everything

The notion that you can control everyone and everything in your life is completely false. You will never be happy unless you accept this fact. People are always fighting their own battles, businesses are always pushing their own agendas, and everyone has their own set of priorities.

But don't get too down on yourself. The truth is that you don't need to have complete control over your surroundings in order to live your life to the fullest. All you have to do is control your own thoughts.

4. I will pick my battles carefully

Most of the time, you will be invited to a large number of battles. Remember that you are not required to prove anything to anyone. You really don't. Choose wisely, as you do not have to attend every battle to which you are invited.

5. I will forget the pains of the past, but I will remember the lessons they taught me

It is pointless to relive the pains, frustrations, and anxieties of the past. If you do this all the time, you will only make yourself feel worthless. Instead of wallowing in self-pity and stressing over your mistakes, examine your past objectively and determine what you could have done better. You can't go back in time, but you can always move forward.

6. I promise myself that I will keep a steady state of mind

Believe in inner happiness: no one can break you down unless you give them permission. Make the decision to be proactive rather than reactive, and learn from your experiences. Isn't it true that you can't bloom if all you have is water? You also require the glare of the sun.

7. I will not, under any circumstances, compromise my values

You are the best person to identify your most important values. Number them and finish them to the best of your ability. Don't let the lure of money, fame, fortune, or success transform you into someone you're not.

8. I'll learn to live in the present

Allow the flavors to melt in your mouth as you savor that bite. Aim to listen and comprehend what your best friend is saying. Give your presence to the people you care about. Don't rush things, but also don't take them for granted. Life isn't a race; it's a wonderful adventure that should be enjoyed at your own pace.

9. I promise to let go of the things that are stifling my progress

Life is too short to cling to people and possessions that corrupt your mind and leave you hanging. Don't be satisfied. You're better than that, you know.

10. I will remain motivated to pursue my deepest desires and strong passion

Don't be afraid to pursue your passion, to educate yourself, and to keep doing what you enjoy. Your passion gives you the greatest reason to live! It needs to be fed, developed, and helped to grow on a regular basis.

11. I promise myself that I will always find enjoyment and fulfillment in every activity in which I participate

Taking yourself too seriously can lead to exhaustion and frustration. You're not supposed to be tired, stressed, and angry, are you? No way, no how. Strive for balance by combining discipline and enjoyment. In the long run, however, working for happiness is infinitely preferable to working for preconceived success.
