Everyone finds it difficult to communicate and interact with others at some point in their lives. Whether it's for work or for pleasure, it's critical to learn these psychological tricks to make things go much more smoothly. These are not to be confused with methods of maliciously manipulating others to get what you want, but rather methods of simply improving overall communication and relationships with others.

1. When you receive an unsatisfactory answer, look into someone's eyes. Sometimes we don't like the answer to a question, and sometimes we don't understand it. Look into the person's eyes instead of repeating the question or asking another. This will make the person feel pressured or cornered, forcing them to elaborate on their thoughts.

2. When someone raises their voice at you, make a concerted effort to remain calm. When a loudmouth acts out, it is usually out of rage, and our actions can sometimes unintentionally elicit that. Anger usually fades quickly, and guilt sets in, and this person is usually the first to ask for forgiveness.

3. Sit close to the aggressor to avoid attack If you're going to a meeting and know you'll be in the room with an aggressive person, that the discussion may become heated, or that you'll be subjected to negative criticism, make a point of sitting next to that person. You may feel uneasy and awkward, but you will not be alone. People are known to become uncomfortable when they are in close proximity, which reduces the level of aggression they intend to exercise.

4. Remember everyone's names if you want to be popular If you want to be popular among your peers and colleagues, start calling them by their first names when you speak with them. When you use a person's first name, he or she feels instantly special.

5. When you are stressed or anxious, write down your thoughts. We all experience some level of mental stress or anxiety at some point in our lives. Close your journal after you've written down your thoughts. You will be able to focus on your work more easily now that you have shared your thoughts with someone. 6. When you can't make a decision, give yourself fewer options. Some people believe that having more options and information is better, and they actually prefer it. Having too many, on the other hand, can be paralyzing. There is evidence that having four options at once is the maximum number we can consider while still making a decision. To be an effective decision maker, limit yourself to only a few options at a time. This will give you enough time to think about each one while also allowing you to look at a new set of options.

7. Correct posture can boost confidence. This psychological trick works for both work and play. It can significantly improve your dating life and help you advance in your career. You may wonder how you can gain confidence. The best way to accomplish this is to improve your posture. You will feel more confident if you allow yourself to take up more space. This is known as power language.

8. This is a surefire way to win at ‘rock, paper, scissors.' Before you begin this well-known game, ask your opponent a random question. This will usually confuse your opponent, and they will most likely throw up'scissors.'

9. Make people feel needed when you ask for help. If you need someone's help, begin by saying, “I need your help…” People like to feel needed, and they despise feeling guilty. You are more likely to receive assistance if you begin the conversation with that phrase.

10. Warm your hands before shaking others' hands Did you know that cold hands are associated with distrust? Check that your hands are warm before touching or shaking someone's hand. A friendly atmosphere is promoted by warm hands.

Other psychological tricks If you suspect someone dislikes you, ask to borrow their pen or pencil.
