If you've found someone with whom you can see yourself growing old, you'll need to make some promises to them. It is critical that you keep these promises throughout your relationship in order to maintain a trusting and loving foundation for the rest of your lives. The following vows, among others, are intended to demonstrate how much you care for your significant other and how committed you are to your relationship.
1. I promise to pay attention
Relationships are built on communication, which is a two-way street. If you want your voice to be heard, you must also pay attention to what your colleague has to say. Keep an open mind and try to see things from their point of view. This will open the door to true comprehension.

2. I promise to study
Relationships are difficult, especially if you have never been in a serious one. There is much to learn about how to treat someone you care about, how to live with them, and how to grow together. You will make mistakes along the way, but as long as you learn from them as a couple, your relationship will thrive.
3. I promise to respect your individuality
You don't have to change who you are just because you're in a relationship. Your significant other doesn't either. Don't try to mold them into the person you want them to be. You wouldn't love them if they were different. Allow them to continue on their path while remaining by their side at all times.
4. I promise to give you room to develop
Because each person in a relationship is still an individual, you should both be allowed to develop as individuals. Don't stop the person you care about from pursuing their dreams. Recognize that they want to grow in order to better support you, and have faith that their long work days and hard work will eventually pay off for your family.
5. I swear to live for us
Keep in mind that you are now living for a family, not just yourself. You shouldn't make major decisions without first consulting your significant other—but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Discuss your wants, needs, hopes, and dreams as a couple, and build your relationship on shared values.
6. I assure you that I will make time
No matter how hectic life gets, you should always make time for the people you care about. Don't become too comfortable in your relationship. Even if you've had a long day at work, you should always want to take your coworker out for ice cream or to see a movie. Don't waste time; it's the one thing you can't get back.
7. I promise to work as part of a team
Change up the chores. Go grocery shopping. Both cars should be washed. Never refer to a task as “my job,” “my wife's job,” “men's work,” or “women's work.” You're all in this together, so act like it.
8. I promise to keep things for just the two of us
Some experiences simply aren't the same without your significant other nearby. You wouldn't watch your favorite TV show without him or her, and they wouldn't eat at your favorite restaurant without you. Some things are special because they only have meaning when you're together.
9. I promise to be concerned about your concerns
When you love someone, you'll find yourself having fun when you expected to be bored out of your mind. Purchase Broadway tickets, even if you would never go to one without her. Bring him to a football game, even if you don't know the rules. You'll end up with memories to last a lifetime.
10. I swear I'll show you off
Never tire of telling the world how much you adore this person. Hold their hand in public and introduce them to new friends and coworkers as “my wife,” “my husband,” or “my fiancée.” Talk about them all the time, even if you know it's driving other people crazy. They're well worth it.
11. I promise to keep attempting to win you over
Even if you've found “the one,” that doesn't mean you can't lose them. Every day, do something that surprises them or makes them feel important. Bring them flowers, clean the house, surprise them at work—do whatever you can to keep things interesting. You will also be proving your worth by doing so.
12. I swear I'll never get into a routine
As I previously stated, keep things interesting. Add some flavor to your life. Every week, try to do something new. Take a class or go for a walk together. Play a puzzle or a game. Don't get into the habit of coming home, eating dinner, and then watching TV with your family. Every day, make memories.
13. I swear I'll always answer the phone
If you can avoid it, never let a call from your significant other go to voice mail. They always call during their lunch break or when they get home from work, but you never know when the next call will be an emergency. Demonstrate to them that they are your top priority at all times.
14. I promise to love your family as if they were my own
When you fall in love, you are adding more than one person to your circle of loved ones. You also include their entire family, and you should want to be a part of their circle. Learn about their customs and pay them a visit during the holidays. Take on the role of an aunt, uncle, big brother or big sister. And be as loyal to them as you are to your own flesh and blood.
15. I swear I'll keep you
Maintain a close relationship with your significant other. Keep them on hand at all times. Keep them in your thoughts and heart. Keep them safe and prevent them from falling. Keep them in your life for the rest of your lives.
