1st Riddle

You will never succeed if you do not have it, but if you have too much of it, you will certainly fail.

Answer: self-assurance

While there are many people who lack the confidence to speak up for themselves and seize opportunities, there are also many who overestimate their abilities and bite off more than they can chew. To maintain a reasonable level of happiness in life and achieve as much as possible, you must learn to live between these extremes and strike the right balance between the various values that govern yourself.

2nd Riddle

It is available to the poor. It is required by the wealthy. It has the power to either make or break you.
Adversity is the answer.

Steel is hardened by being exposed to a furnace's roaring fires and then cooled, and the human spirit is hardened by adversity. The wealthy and privileged lack it, and as a result, they frequently become spoiled, with a distorted view of reality and a childish ignorance of the ways of the world. However, if a person is subjected to a series of adversities without the ability to relax and recover, his or her spirit may be broken, or they may become bitter and jaded. You must go through some difficult times in order to gain a respect for life and hone your survival skills, but keep in mind that there are those whose hardships have led them to a dangerous place—beware of such people.

3rd Riddle

Everyone wants more of it to feel special, but having more of it makes you feel less special.

Knowledge is the answer

It's a wonderful thing to be young and foolish. You think you know everything, that you're invincible and have life figured out, but as you get older and wiser, and delve much deeper into certain subjects, you suddenly realize how much more there is to learn. It can take a lifetime to truly master a skill or gain detailed knowledge on a topic, and there are simply too many skills and topics for any one person to cover in multiple lifetimes. Understanding this humbles you, and it also causes you to question people who believe they have all the answers.

4th riddle

You want to share me if you have me. You don't have me if you share me. What exactly am I?

The secret is the answer

Some people fail to recognize the true value of secrets. From a moral standpoint, they assist you in avoiding lying while also allowing you to protect your privacy and the privacy of those close to you. We are born with the desire to gossip and spread interesting information, but it must be controlled. Little facts that only a few people are aware of help to strengthen their bonds of friendship and love—protecting someone's secret in this day and age is nearly as brave and noble as protecting them from a wild animal.

5th riddle

You can only have it after you've given it to someone else.

Respect is the answer

Respect is one of the most misunderstood concepts out there; it is requested but rarely given. Some even try to force it or buy it, but if you can't respect others and treat them as equals, you'll never be able to truly earn their respect. People value bravery, intelligence, skill, talent, compassion, and physical and mental strength, which cannot be faked.

6th riddle

Assume you're in a dark room. How are you going to get out?

Stop imagining it and start doing it

There's something to be said about the destructive power of self-fulfilling prophecies, which people frequently impose on themselves. When any sign of trouble is immediately interpreted as a disaster and any attempt to correct a situation is dismissed with the words “What's the point? If “it will never work,” what chance do we have when things really go wrong? It is critical not to give up before the battle has even begun, and to avoid constantly taking yourself to that dark and lonely place. A little optimism and perseverance will go a long way.

7th riddle

What is always on the way but never arrives?

Tomorrow is the answer

Procrastination is the most common dream killer because it stems from laziness and a fear of change. If you continue to reschedule important tasks for tomorrow, Monday, or next month, you will remain in the same place as the world moves on without you. Some 20-30 minutes here, an hour or two there, it's not much time to invest in yourself, but if you do it every day, you'll reap huge benefits. Don't put off until tomorrow what needs to be done today.

8th riddle

They arrive at night without being summoned. They are lost without being stolen during the day.

Answer: Fears and doubts

That old adage from our forefathers, “sleep on it,” is as simple as it is brilliant. Even if we have someone to hold us tight at night before sleep, we are at our most vulnerable. As the room becomes quiet, those nagging doubts begin to creep in, our insecurities and fears begin to eat away at our minds, and that self-critical voice becomes a little louder. However, after a good night's sleep, as we wake up and let some sunlight into the room, as we drink some fresh coffee and eat some tasty food, those troubling thoughts seem to fade away. This is a much better time to think things through, make big decisions, and make important phone calls.

9th riddle

A prison where you feel safe but never quite happy. Every time you try to leave, it grows bigger.

Your comfort zone is the answer

When we hide in our little comfort zone, we get a false sense of security, and our lack of initiative will eventually lead to us feeling miserable. To improve, we must be willing to try new things, put ourselves in uncomfortable situations, and gradually learn to cope with them. As we become more comfortable in different situations and gain proficiency in a variety of additional skills, our comfort zone expands, and we must constantly push ourselves beyond its boundaries.

10th riddle

If you break me, I will continue to work; if you touch me, I may become entangled; and if you lose me, nothing will matter.

Your heart, to be precise

Allowing someone to get close, reach in, and touch our hearts is both an exhilarating and terrifying experience. There are more than enough people out there for everyone to find a good match. In fact, you may find a good match several times, and just as your heart breaks, it will mend and be ready to be touched once more. However, if you lose the empathy that makes you a good person, life will become bleak and meaningless, so keep your heart safe and nurture it.

11th riddle

It starts out light and easy to carry, but the more you carry it, the heavier it becomes.

The answer is a guilty conscience

We make rash decisions from time to time, especially when we are young and full of raging hormones, and even when we know we did wrong, we manage to rationalize and convince ourselves that we did nothing wrong or that we have no choice. The problem is that you can only justify your actions for so long before your conscience begins to eat away at you. This is why many people who lead dangerous lives, whether they are thugs, soldiers, or cops, burn out and turn to alcohol or drugs. Maintain good mental health by adhering to a code of ethics that you have adopted at all times.

12th riddle

I don't listen to logic, but I can hear every siren's song and will try to steer us into the rocks if you let me drive. What exactly am I?

Ego is the answer

When your ego takes control, it's very easy to take offense at the slightest insult, start shouting matches with people, try to show off and injure yourself at the gym, bite off more than you can chew, and ruin relationships. It is only concerned with maintaining your perceived social status and will quickly turn you into a drooling Neanderthal, which applies to both men and women. It's best to leave your ego at home when you leave the house – you don't have to prove anything to anyone as long as you have a good sense of self-worth and are surrounded by people who understand and respect you.

13th riddle

One by one, we fall from heaven into the depths of the past, and our world is constantly upturned, so that we may still exist at some point.

Answer: Aspirations and dreams

Our perceptions of ourselves will evolve over time, and some of our dreams and goals will fade away. However, as our worldview and personality evolve, new dreams and aspirations emerge, which is a perfectly normal and healthy part of the maturation process. We are not losing who we are; rather, we are evolving into a better version of ourselves, and understanding this allows us to let go of the past.

14th Riddle

A mile from one end to the other, but as close as a friend. A valuable commodity freely given. It can be found on the rich, the poor, the short and the tall, but it is most common in children. What exactly is it?

A smile is the answer

When you get older, this simple little thing becomes a valuable commodity. Many people suffer from anxiety and depression, and the majority of us spend a significant portion of our week under constant stress. We forget to smile sincerely, from the bottom of our hearts, as we once did as carefree children. This is why spending time with close family and friends is so valuable. We need to remember how to smile more and open our eyes to the beauty and hilarity of the world around us.

15th riddle

We were in pain but didn't move. We poison without coming into contact. We are the bearers of both the truth and the lies. We should not be judged based on our size. What exactly are we?

Words is the answer

Our words have a tremendous impact on others. They have the power to inflict pain and sorrow, to bring joy and laughter, to make people uncomfortable, to educate or to offend. Many people do not give much thought to the words they use, but we should all choose our words more carefully. Just a few inappropriate words spoken at the wrong time can change our lives forever, and it is up to us to learn to communicate more tactfully so that we can control the outcome of such situations rather than allowing our emotions to get the best of us.

Spend a few minutes thinking about these riddles and try to recall a time in your life that could serve as an example for any of the points discussed here. Feel free to dissect each of the riddles and return to them after they've been running through your head for a day or two.
