Signs You Have No Life (The Ultimate Guide + Image Quotes)

Did you want to be an astronaut, a singer, or an engineer when you were a kid? If so, how is that going for you? Hopefully, everything is going swimmingly and you are living the life of your dreams. But for the rest of you who aren't, here are 13 signs you're wasting your life… but you refuse to admit it:

1. You waste too much time doing things you shouldn't

Games on video. Reality television. I'm surfing the web. Putting too much food in your mouth. Excessive drinking. The list goes on and on. Examine your life objectively. What do you spend the majority of your time doing? And how well does it serve you? Is it a step toward a better life? Is it laying the groundwork for a prosperous future? If not, you should reconsider your daily routine and make changes.

2. You find yourself complaining frequently

I know people who are constantly overwhelmed by life, and they never stop telling me about it. Are you one of those individuals? Do you have grievances about your job, your boss, your salary, your neighbors, or your spouse? If you do, you will only be emitting negative energy. Negativity has no effect on the situation. It keeps you trapped. So, instead of talking about what you don't like about your life, try talking about what you do like about it.

3. You do not nourish your mind

If you aren't constantly growing and learning as a person, you are stagnant – like a still pond that doesn't move and accumulates green gunk. That's what happens to your mind if you don't keep it active and learning new things. Positive challenges in your life will expand your mind rather than shrink it.

4. You engage in a lot of self-deprecation

Self-talk has the power to make or break your life. “Whether you think you can or think you can't… either way, you're right,” Henry Ford once said. If you tell yourself that you aren't smart enough to get that promotion or start your own business, you are correct. If you tell yourself that you are too tired to make changes in your life, you are correct. Whatever you tell yourself becomes true. So pay attention to what you say to yourself, because your life will mirror your thoughts.

5. You're feeling uninspired

Do you have a particular interest? I know a lot of people who believe they lack passion. However, this is never the case. You must find something you enjoy doing. As a result, you must rediscover what excites you and then do more of it.

6. You don't make any plans for the future

While it is wonderful to live in the “now” and “be in the moment,” there are times when you need to look ahead to see where you want to go. If you don't have a goal or a plan, you're like a boat drifting aimlessly in the ocean, hoping to find a good spot. But you're not going to be able to do that. To get where you want to go, you must create a step-by-step plan. You need your own inner GPS to guide you, just like a GPS gets you to your destination.

7. You spend too much time with people who don't help you grow

It's easy to get stuck with people who don't make you feel like a better person. But if you keep doing that, you will either remain stagnant or be dragged down with them. I like to refer to them as “Energy Vampires.” They drain your life force and provide you with nothing in return. Instead, seek out people who are interested in personal development.

8. You're obsessed with your phone

Sure, cell phones are cool gadgets that can captivate us when we use them. While that is entertaining, consider how much time you are wasting with your phone. Worse, consider all of the relationships that could be jeopardized. Perhaps you're texting or surfing the web while eating dinner with your spouse or children. If you are, you are wasting valuable time that you could be spending with your loved ones – or time that you could be spending making a plan for your future.

9. You waste money on frivolous purchases

There is a distinction between a “need” and a “want.” That's something I'm sure we all learned in kindergarten. However, in today's society, the lines have become increasingly blurred (see #8… the cell phone). In fact, I know people who can't pay their mortgage but own the most expensive gadgets on the planet. When you think about it, there is very little that we actually require. Some of these things include food, water, shelter, and love. Everything else is just a bonus. So take a look at where your money is going and see if you can make any changes. Perhaps you can invest the money you save in your future.

10. You aren't getting enough sleep

I'm not a doctor, but I've read enough books to understand how important sleep is. I could write a book about it. But, obviously, there isn't enough space in this brief article. Sleep is necessary for good health. If you are too busy to get enough sleep or simply have a bad habit of staying up until the wee hours of the morning, you should reconsider your habits.

11. You are not caring for your body

Not only is sleep important for your health, but so are food and exercise. I understand I'm not telling you anything you don't already know. However, eating a well-balanced, healthy diet and moving your body have far-reaching benefits that go beyond weight loss. It has an impact on your mental attitude and overall well-being. So examine your diet and level of activity. You might discover that making a few minor changes can significantly improve your life.

12. You do not venture outside of your comfort zone

I understand how easy it is to live in one's comfort zone. In fact, whenever I visit a familiar restaurant, I always order the same dish. Not because I'm afraid to try new things, but because I enjoy the food I usually order. But that's not the kind of comfort zone I'm referring to. I'm referring to taking a risk that will benefit your life. Also, keep in mind that there is a distinction between a “risk” and a “calculated risk.” Any risk has the potential to be fatal, but a calculated risk is one in which you have weighed all options and thus developed a good, sensible plan of action.

13. You're unhappy with your life

I gauge success by a person's level of happiness. Are you content? If not, you should make a change! Even a sense of contentment or satisfaction does not indicate that you are living your life to the fullest. Life is supposed to be exciting! So, if you're not having fun in life, consider some of the changes you can make to improve your situation.

Don't be discouraged if any of these 13 points apply to you. You have the ability to make changes. But the first thing you need to do is let go of the notion that you can't do it. Your own thought process is frequently your greatest impediment. So begin there. Change your thinking, and you will change your life!
