What Do Boys Like (The Ultimate Guide + Image Quotes)

We men are simple beings who are frequently misunderstood. Men are more than their physical appearance. Men value a woman's inner beauty as well.

Here are some of the things that men enjoy:

1. We appreciate it when you send us the first text of the day

Huffington Post's James Michael Sama said it best.

“Girls are under a lot of pressure to always initiate conversation.”

That is very true, and it begins when we first meet you. We're the ones who approach you in the bar. We're the ones who have to call back after the third day or something like that. When it comes to talking, we usually take the lead. It's nice to wake up every now and then and see that good morning text from you.

2. We enjoy hearing you laugh

Laughter is always the best medicine, and men enjoy giving it to you on a daily basis. We will literally act stupid on purpose in order to get a laugh. When we hurt ourselves, we will overreact and act sassy and sarcastic in order to get a smile. Even if it is at our expense, we thrive on your laughter. Please do us a favor and snicker a little when we do something ridiculous because we are doing it for you.

3. We admire your nurturing nature

In general, we enjoy taking care of you. It's just what (the majority of us) were born to do. However, every now and then, it's nice to be looked after. It doesn't have to be anything outlandish or grandiose. We only need a back rub after a long day, a little soup when we're sick, or a hug when we're down. Few men will admit it, but we enjoy telling ourselves that we have a partner who looks after us. It also motivates us to work even harder to take care of you!

4. We enjoy cuddling

When I say we love to cuddle, I don't mean we love to cuddle from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next morning. We're men, we're busy, and we've got things to do. But if you want to cuddle on the couch while watching a movie or for a few minutes before bed, we're all for it. We enjoy being close to you because it makes us feel good, and we want you to feel safe. It's likely that it'll also put us to sleep, but that's the risk you're taking.

5. We enjoy discussing our emotions

Just not our feelings, you know. Not all of the time, at any rate. We enjoy hearing about your day, including your triumphs and setbacks. We're interested in your life (that's why you're in ours in the first place). There is, however, at least one rule to this. We enjoy listening to you talk about your feelings, but we can't do it for more than four hours at a time. That is completely absurd. None of the Lord of the Rings films are that long. We may not be able to listen all day, but that doesn't mean we don't care or don't want to. We're men, and our attention spans are short. Please work with our flaws!

6. We appreciate it when you mention us on Facebook

No, not all of the time. Okay, not all of the time. All we're asking for here is a passing mention now and then. We love it when you want to tell your friends about something totally awesome that we went to the trouble of surprising you with. Posting that you love your man 45 times a day is creepy, and so does your man. That being said, if he buys you something special for Christmas or prepares a delicious meal, do him a favor and take a picture, post it on Facebook, and show some pride in your man.

7. We appreciate it when you pay attention

I mean, really pay attention. You and I both know that men don't typically talk about our feelings, fears, frustrations, and so on. When we do, it is because the subject is important to us. We love it when we finally decide to open up and you take the time to listen to us out. I can't tell you how many times I kept something bottled up until I finally let it out, and my girlfriend sat there and listened to me. The weight has been lifted from my chest, and life has returned to normal. It's a wonderful sensation that we can't get from our male counterparts.

8. We appreciate it when you text us while out with your friends

Any guy who claims to be completely jealousy-free is a complete liar. Even the most stable relationships on the planet have that 1-2 percent of the brain that wonders how you're doing. We're not expecting you to give us a play-by-play account of your night. When you're out with your friends, chances are we're watching sports and listening to a guy on TV give us a play-by-play of the game. We can only look at one play at a time. All we want is a “hello” or something every now and then to let us know you're thinking of us. It makes us feel good and keeps the jealousy that all men experience at bay.

9. We enjoy it when we are needed

When your car breaks down, the pickle jar won't open, or something on the shelf is too high for you to reach, we may moan and groan. It's all a ruse. We secretly enjoy assisting you with these tasks. It makes us feel useful, which is an important feeling for a man. You shouldn't go overboard with it, just like you shouldn't with the other things. We enjoy being needed, but we don't want to spend the entire day following you around and doing things for you. That isn't a relationship; it's a job. We enjoy being the most needed when you require the most assistance. You'll have to wait four hours to get us to do the dishes, but if you're trapped under a bookcase and the house is on fire, you can bet we'll be there!

10. We appreciate it when you compliment us

Every now and then, it's nice to hear that what we do is appreciated. Too many men on this planet work 40-60 hours per week, paying for the house, food, and bills without even a thank you. We know you appreciate it (or at least we hope you do), but it's nice to hear it out loud every now and then. It is sufficient to say something like, “I know you worked hard to do this for me, and I appreciate it.” It doesn't have to be something serious like work or the mortgage. When we open the pickle jar, saying “thank you my strong man” is a great way to get us to smile. My idea was the enticing part. You are not required to use that if you do not wish to, but we secretly enjoy it as well.

Men have become a greater mystery to women than women have become to men as a result of the media, expectations, and other external factors. The truth is that what makes a man happy today is the same thing that made men happy 300 years ago. The times have changed, and for the most part, we have changed with them. The one constant in our lives is what makes us happy, and in most cases, that is you.
